Growing the Team‍

Over the years, I've been honored to receive numerous requests to auctioneer at charity benefit events. During the 2000s and 2010s, as the demand grew, however, I realized I couldn't handle every event on my own. This led me to build a qualified team of auctioneers who could consistently deliver outstanding performances. Finding the right individuals was a challenge, but after decades of searching, discussions, training, and cooperation on events, it has been rewarding to see the dedicated talent we've developed at KLM Auctions.

Having a designated team allows me to match auctioneers to events based on their unique skills and backgrounds. For instance, when a girls' school in Hawaii sought an auctioneer, I confidently recommended Kanani, who, being from Hawaii herself, not only understood the local culture but also resonated with the event's mission. This approach has sometimes even led to audience members mistaking us for part of the organization - a testament to our commitment and preparation for each individual event, its mission, and its function in the community.

When screening candidates, I prioritize three key attributes: unwavering ethics, vibrant stage presence, and the ability to think quickly on their feet. These qualities ensure that we represent the organizations we work with effectively, understanding the gravity of our role in raising funds for important causes. Each auction is more than just an event; it’s an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
